The mansion made famous by American Horror Story has a history every bit as haunting as its on-screen reputation. For decades, the grand old residence has served as a striking film and television location, its imposing architecture and dark, Gothic character making it a natural setting for stories of mystery, horror and the supernatural. Long before it became the iconic Murder House, the property had taken on a number of lives, including a private residence, a convent and a reputation as a haunted house. Its weathered grandeur, shadowy interiors and unsettling atmosphere have made it a magnet for filmmakers and visitors alike, blurring the line between Hollywood fiction and the house’s own intriguing past. Today it remains one of the most recognisable horror locations in American television.

The infamous Rosenheim Mansion was built in 1908 by the renowned architect Alfred Rosenheim as his family’s forever home. Yet six years later Rosenheim and his wife Frances abruptly abandoned the grand residence, leaving behind a house whose history would intrigue every resident who followed them.
The current owner, Angela Oakenfold, purchased the property in 2015 and lived there for five years, until the reported paranormal activity became so overwhelming that she was driven out. The mansion then stood empty for six years, slowly falling into disrepair. Angela has once again taken up residence, determined to breathe new life into the historic property and gradually restore it to its former glory.
